In When It Rains, It Pours Season 2: Mellow Rain, the complicated romance between Hagiwara Kazuaki and Nakarai Sei enters a delicate new chapter. After bonding over shared secrets and impulsively sleeping together, both ended their previous relationships to finally commit to one another. Now, four months later, Kazuaki returns from his temporary assignment in Osaka to join Sei at his new apartment. Although living as an official couple brings precious daily moments, they frequently fail to fully connect. Kazuaki battles lingering feelings for his former lover, while Sei faces growing bouts of jealousy. With past memories and family dynamics quietly unsettling their hearts, they must confront their vulnerabilities. Having skipped the traditional steps of falling in love, the two men must slowly learn to build a lasting bond. Adapted from the novel Futtara Doshaburi by Ichiho Michi, this emotional journey explores how they weave a unique form of love that belongs to them alone.
